Portsmouth Theory Test Centre

Portsmouth theory test centre is located on England’s south coast.

It is situated near Portsmouth Guildhall close to Premier Inn Portsmouth City Centre.

It has easy access to transportation. You can travel by car, bus or by train.

When travelling to the theory test centre in Portsmouth, do allow more time for your journey as something unexpected could happen during your journey. We advise arriving at least 15 minutes before your schedule to have enough time to prepare for your test.

Here is some travel advice:

Walking: If you are walking, aim for  Isambard Brunel Road. When you arrive at Portsmouth Guildhall, you are closer to the theory test centre. 

By Car: If you’re travelling by car with someone, you can park your vehicle at Exchange Road Car Park. It is a convenient car park located near the theory test centre.

By Bus: If you are travelling by bus, you can head off to the nearby bus stations at the south called the City Shops South. Then you can walk to the theory test centre as it is not far from there.

By Train: If you are travelling by train, there are train stations near the theory test centres. You can head off to train stations such as Portsmouth & Southsea or the Portsmouth Harbour. 

Make sure you bring your provisional licence with you to your theory test appointment. Otherwise, you will NOT be able to sit for your theory exam.

To book your theory test you can visit the DVSA’s website here and book your theory test online 24/7. Alternatively, you can call the DVSA booking phone line 0300 200 1122. When booking your test be sure to:

1. Have your driving licence information with you
2. An email address to receive a booking confirmation
3. Credit or debit card to pay for your theory test.
